How to get poop out of carpet

Scrape off solids first; repeated detergent blotting can remove more stain, but stop when no more transfers to the cloth.

  1. Pretest the detergent on an inconspicuous area of the carpet for colorfastness.
  2. Scrape gently with a dull knife or spoon to remove solids without pushing the stain into the carpet pile.
  3. Mix a small amount of laundry or enzyme detergent with cool water.
  4. Sponge the stained area with the detergent solution using a clean cloth.
  5. Blot with a clean cloth, and repeat sponging and blotting until no more stain is removed.
  6. Place clean cloths over the damp area to absorb remaining moisture, then let the carpet air dry thoroughly.
Don't do this
If the stain remains after no more transfers to the cloth, use a commercial product made for this, used per its label.
