How to get berry and juice stains out of carpet

First blot the berry or juice stain with a cool water and detergent solution; repeated blotting may lift it, but some stains can remain.

  1. Check the carpet care label, and do not use anything it prohibits.
  2. Pretest the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area for colorfastness.
  3. Mix dish soap or laundry or enzyme detergent with cool water.
  4. Apply the solution to a clean cloth, then blot the stain.
  5. Dampen a clean cloth with white vinegar, then blot the stain.
  6. Repeat with the detergent and water solution, then blot with a clean cloth dampened with cool water and blot well to remove excess moisture.
  7. Before the carpet dries, set the pile by running your hand over the carpet against the nap, then allow it to dry thoroughly.
Don't do this
If the stain remains after these steps, use a commercial product made for this, used per its label.
