How to get coffee out of carpet

Pretest the vinegar solution first, then blot and rinse; coffee tannin stains are difficult to treat.

1. Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup cool water.
2. Pretest the vinegar solution on an inconspicuous area of the carpet to check colorfastness.
3. Blot the stain with a clean cloth dampened with the vinegar solution.
4. Work small amounts of the vinegar solution into the carpet pile with your fingers.
5. Blot with a clean cloth.
6. Flush the area with cool water to rinse.
7. Blot again with a clean cloth.
