How to get ink out of upholstery

Check the upholstery care tag code first, treat fresh ink immediately with minimal moisture, and know that dried ink may be impossible to remove.

  1. Check the upholstery care tag code before you start.
  2. Pretest cold/cool water on an inconspicuous area for colorfastness.
  3. Blot the ink with clean cloths; do not rub.
  4. Lightly dampen a clean cloth with cold/cool water.
  5. Blot the stain with the damp cloth, using as little moisture as possible.
  6. Blot again with a dry clean cloth.
Don't do this
Ink can be permanent, especially if it dries. If it remains, use a commercial product made for this, used per its label.
