How to get ink out of clothes
Treat ink on clothes immediately with rubbing alcohol and clean cloths; if it dries or is laundered first, it may set or become impossible to remove.
- Place a clean cloth under the stained area.
- Dampen another clean cloth with rubbing alcohol.
- Blot the ink stain with the alcohol-dampened cloth; do not rub.
- Cover the stain with the alcohol-dampened cloth.
- Change to a clean alcohol-dampened cloth as it picks up ink.
- Continue as long as ink is being removed.
Don't do this
- Do not rub, because rubbing can spread the ink.
- Do not launder before treating, because laundering may set the stain.
- Do not let the stain dry before treating, because dried ink may be impossible to remove.
The stain may be permanent if it was allowed to dry or was laundered before treatment. Laundering may set ink stains.
