How to get ink out of clothes

Treat ink on clothes immediately with rubbing alcohol and clean cloths; if it dries or is laundered first, it may set or become impossible to remove.

  1. Place a clean cloth under the stained area.
  2. Dampen another clean cloth with rubbing alcohol.
  3. Blot the ink stain with the alcohol-dampened cloth; do not rub.
  4. Cover the stain with the alcohol-dampened cloth.
  5. Change to a clean alcohol-dampened cloth as it picks up ink.
  6. Continue as long as ink is being removed.
Don't do this
The stain may be permanent if it was allowed to dry or was laundered before treatment. Laundering may set ink stains.
