How to get ink out of carpet
Blot fresh ink from the carpet with clean cloths right away; it may be impossible to remove if it dries.
- Blot the ink with a clean cloth.
- Use a fresh clean cloth as soon as ink transfers to the cloth.
- Keep blotting gently until no more ink transfers.
- Let the area air-dry only after blotting stops lifting ink.
Don't do this
- Do not rub, because rubbing spreads the stain and can fray the carpet pile.
- Do not let the stain dry if you can act now, because dried ink may be impossible to remove.
- Do not launder or use heat on stained items, because laundering may set ink stains.
Ink may be permanent, especially if it has dried. Use a commercial product made for this, used per its label.
