How to get hair dye out of carpet

Blot up excess hair dye first; hair dye is designed to stain, so it can be extremely difficult or impossible to remove from carpet.

Blot excess liquid with clean cloths without spreading the spill.
Pretest white vinegar on an inconspicuous carpet area for colorfastness.
Dampen a clean cloth with white vinegar and sponge the stained area.
Blot the area with a clean dry cloth.
Sponge the area with cool water.
Blot again with clean cloths to remove excess moisture.
Set the carpet pile and allow it to dry.

Don't do this

Do not rub the stain; rubbing spreads the stain and frays the pile.
Do not skip the colorfastness pretest; the carpet may discolor.
Do not use an open flame while cleaning; it is unsafe.
