How to get blood out of clothes
Soak the blood stain in cold/cool water first; if heat has set it, it may be difficult to remove.
- Read the care label before trying any stain removal method.
- Pretest 3% hydrogen peroxide on an inside seam or hem for colorfastness.
- Soak the stained clothes in cold/cool water for about 30 minutes or longer.
- Blot the stain with clean cloths.
- If the stain remains, put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide on the stain for 1 to 3 minutes.
Don't do this
- Do not rub the stain; blot instead.
- Do not use a dryer or press the fabric until the stain is fully gone; heat can set blood and make it difficult to remove.
- Do not skip the care label or pretest; the fabric may not be colorfast.
Repeat the cold/cool water soak if the stain is still visible. If heat has already set the blood stain, it may be difficult to remove.
