How to get water marks out of glass
Start by blotting the glass with a one-to-one mix of white vinegar and cool water; water marks often improve, but stubborn marks may need another pass.
- Mix one part white vinegar with one part cool water.
- Wet a clean cloth with the vinegar-and-water mix.
- Blot the water marks on the glass; do not rub.
- Blot the area with a clean cloth dampened with cool water.
- Blot dry with a clean cloth.
- Repeat the vinegar-and-water blotting once if water marks remain.
Don't do this
- Do not rub the glass, because rubbing can spread marks and leave streaks.
- Do not let the vinegar-and-water mix dry on the glass, because it can leave new marks.
- Do not scrape water marks with a dull knife or spoon, because scraping is unnecessary and can scratch glass.
Repeat the vinegar-and-water method once. If the water marks still remain, use a commercial product made for this, used per its label.
